Authorities and Insurance
Official Registration
For foreign employees, registration with the authorities depends on the duration of your employment:
Employment of less than 90 days: Your registration will be completed through an online system, which we will arrange for you. In this case, you do not need to register personally with the local municipality.
Employment of more than 90 days: Foreign employees must register in person at the municipality office within 7 days of starting work, providing a copy of their employment contract. The municipal office is located in the same building as the tourist office, 80 meters from the hotel. Entrance on the left, first floor.
The management will inform you about the type of permit you will receive.
Important: If you have registered with the municipality, please do not forget to deregister when your employment ends.
AHV Number / Swiss Social Security Number
If you have previously worked in Switzerland, please provide your AHV number or Swiss social security number when starting your position.
If you do not yet have an AHV card, we will apply for one on your behalf.
Bank Account and Salary Payment
Your salary will be paid on the 5th day of the following month.
Please provide us with your bank account details. While an account with the Berner Kantonalbank is preferred, other banks are also accepted. If you only have a foreign bank account, high transfer fees may apply. Therefore, it is advisable to open a Swiss bank account.
Health Insurance
Having health insurance is legally required in Switzerland unless you are registered via the electronic notification procedure (for employment of less than 90 days).
To choose a health insurance provider, we recommend visiting the following website: comparis.ch.
If you are healthy and fit, it is recommended to opt for a policy with the highest deductible (usually CHF 2,500 per year). This significantly lowers the premiums, but you will need to cover medical costs, including doctor visits and medication, up to this amount.

Illness and Accidents
Illness: Please notify the management immediately if you are sick and cannot come to work.
A medical certificate is required from the second day of illness onward.
Accidents: In the event of an accident, notify the management immediately.
Accident insurance will cover medical expenses according to legal requirements.
